Concordia | The Americas
What: Concordia | The Americas is a high-level summit that will bring together nearly 100 world leaders from across the public, private and non-profit sectors to address the pressing political and economic issues affecting the Americas, including energy, trade, and governance.
Who: The summit will be held by Concordia, a non-partisan, nonprofit organization, in partnership with Americas Society/Council of the Americas, Miami Dade College (MDC), and Univision. Speakers include:
- José María Aznar, Former President of the Government of Spain
- Luis Alberto Moreno, President, Inter-American Development Bank
- Luis Alberto Lacalle Herrera, Former President of Uruguay
- Guillermo Lasso, Founder, Creating Opportunities Party (CREO), Republic of Ecuador
- Sebastián Piñera, Former President, Republic of Chile
- Peter MacKay, Former Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Canada
- Alejandro Ordónez, Inspector General, Republic of Colombia

Elections over the last year in Peru, Argentina, Venezuela, Mexico, and Canada have removed long-time ruling parties from power and pose new challenges for newly-elected leaders. In Brazil, Dilma Roussef faces impeachment amidst the country’s deep economic and political turmoil. The renewed diplomatic ties between the United States and Cuba have far-reaching implications for the future of the island, both economically and politically. Meanwhile, in the United States, all eyes are on the 2016 presidential election, which has brought with it a host of surprises. Concordia | The Americas will bring together world leaders from across the public, private and non-profit sectors to discuss how to best respond to the changing dynamics of the region, with the goal of identifying and deploying solutions to ensure a more prosperous and sustainable future.

Through convening, research, and issue-based campaigns, Concordia raises the visibility of P3s and demonstrates how they can be used to help solve the world’s most pressing challenges. Nicholas M. Logothetis and Matthew A. Swift founded Concordia in 2011.
Miami Dade College (MDC) is the higher education institution with the largest undergraduate enrollment in the America, with more than 165,000 students.
