Applications also being accepted for next Make1 8-week program
Miami, June 7, 2016 – Make1, a 16-week three-dimensional product design and prototyping program offered by The Idea Center at Miami Dade College (MDC), will be wrapping up with its Make1 Showcase on Thursday, June 16, at 6 p.m. Students will have their creative projects on display, from virtual reality headsets to vacuum robots, competing for first place.
“Make1 students have the opportunity to learn to build, and build to learn. Through this hands-on experience, students will gain the knowledge and skills necessary to design and build their very own innovative products,” said Alex Uribe, Make1’s program lead.
The keynote speaker will be Rodolfo Saccoman, CEO at AdMobilize, and a winner on ABC’s first season of “Shark Tank” for the company he co-founded, MyTherapyJournal.com. After his success, Saccoman founded AdMobilize, which is revolutionizing the rules of advertising with a new paradigm to develop groundbreaking technology. As an entrepreneur, Saccoman is determined that Miami will become a hub for entrepreneurship with endless opportunities.
The Idea Center @ MDC has partnered with MakerBot Industries, WB Engineering, Moonlighter, and Autodesk to support Make1’s second cohort. The course establishes a foundation in design empathy and iterative prototyping methods, with training in design software and hardware tools. It also includes guest speakers, field trips and hands-on design challenges that include building foam furniture, a virtual reality headset and a vacuum robot.
Make1 is now accepting applications until June 19 for the next 8-week summer program. Make1 is open to the public without any prerequisites.
