The Idea Center at MDC to Host Information Session for Upcoming IT Training Program with McKinsey Social Initiative Generation Miami

Miami, June 2, 2016 – The Idea Center @ MDC will once again host an information session Friday, June 24, at 6 p.m., for the next cohort of its free 13-week McKinsey Social Initiative Generation information technology boot camp.  Its goal is to close the skills gap and improve the employment prospects of the next generation by helping to develop the requisite technical skills in IT help desk and computer network support as well as information security analysis.

“This specialized, 21st century skills program will enable and motivate students to succeed in their goals of establishing challenging and sustainable careers in information technology,” said Idea Center Executive Director Leandro Finol

The innovative program, geared toward students ages 18-29, will also assist students in developing special skills essential for various positions within the information technology sector, all without requiring a bachelor’s degree and still providing a livable wage. Upon completion, students will be guaranteed interviews with local employers that are connected with the program.

For employers, the McKinsey Social Initiative’s Generation training programs will be a great resource for better talent. Armed with the appropriate tools for success, new hires will be able to provide higher productivity, longer retention periods, and faster professional growth. Students will also be able to use this boot camp experience to make progress towards a college credit degree.

Generation currently has youth employment programs in ten cities across five countries, with the goal of connecting one million young adults with skills and careers by 2020.
