The Idea Center at MDC in Partnership with Audastio to Launch Pioneers Podcast

The Idea Center will use podcast platform to raise awareness of local entrepreneurs and changemakers.

Miami, FL Dec. 5, 2018The Idea Center at Miami Dade College (MDC) is taking its Pioneers @ MDC speaker series to the airwaves through a podcast titled Pioneers @ MDC Podcast.  It is set to launch at 6 p.m., Wednesday Dec. 14, at The Idea Center’s Innovation Wonderland Bash event.

The podcast series will be produced through Audastio, a production company founded by MDC alumnus David Frederick. The theme music will be produced through Guitars Over Guns Organization (GOGO), a nonprofit that offers students from disadvantaged backgrounds a powerful combination of music education and mentorship with professional musicians to help them overcome hardship, find their voice and reach their potential as tomorrow’s leaders.

“This school is home to many people from diverse types of backgrounds,” Frederick said. “At the same time, there are many people who aren’t able to attend these types of events. I wanted to bring it to them through the podcasts.”

At this year’s Innovation Wonderland Bash, GOGO will also perform live in celebration of the Podcast show’s launch.

“Music Solutions Lab is where students come to find ways to solve all of their problems musically and we are here to uplift our community in every way that we can,” said Antonio “Monty” Shelton, Music Production Mentor at Guitars Over Guns. “We are honored to be able to help The Idea Center at MDC on behalf of Guitars Over Guns Organization.”

Each podcast will be released monthly and voiced by Priscilla Milliance, Professor at Miami Fashion Institute at MDC.  The first three episodes are:  Closing the Gender Gap in Technology, a conversation with Johanna Mikkola from Wyncode Academy; Finding your Voice—The Power of Confidence, where best-selling author Heather Monahan talks on the importance of developing confidence and self-esteem and how it translates to success in respective careers; and Civic Engagement and Innovation, with Steven Levine, Co-founder of Meteorite Social Impact Advisors, who shares his experience leading the #VoteTogether campaign and the TurboVote challenge.

Pioneers @ MDC is a monthly speaker series that features trailblazers speaking about how they have made an impact on the community and how they are continuing to achieve their goals.
