The Confucius Institute at Miami Dade College Celebrates Chinese New Year at Four Campuses

Miami, January 23, 2014The renowned Confucius Institute (CI) at Miami Dade College (MDC) will welcome the Chinese New Year of the Horse with an array of cultural and academic events throughout January and February. With a commitment to provide cultural enrichment opportunities for all residents of Miami-Dade County, the CI will hold activities at four of MDC campuses – Kendall, Medical, North, and Wolfson – selected for their accessibility to the areas with the greatest diversity and population density. Events will take place through Feb. 16.

All celebrations will feature traditional Chinese performing arts variety shows, including Chinese folk dances, instrumental music, folk songs, Tai Chi, and calligraphy demonstration. The CI will also provide outreach resources in international education to help students study-abroad in China on full-scholarships. In the past years, more than 7,000 people have attended the CI’s celebrations since its inception in 2010, making the institute one of the most impactful cultural enrichment organizations in the region.

All events are free and open to the public unless noted.
