Miami, April 2, 2018- After recently winning the state championship, students from the Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Physician Assistant program will compete on Monday, May 21, at 7 p.m. in New Orleans in the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) National Medical Challenge Bowl, which MDC has previously won twice and while beating top medical schools across the nation.
MDC Physician Assistant students Francisco Gil, Alexandrea Weeks, and Michael Conception, with MDC Senior Associate Professor Dr. Nicolas Massimini as coach, will compete in the national Challenge Bowl after winning the state competition in Orlando in February, which marks MDC’s sixth state championship.
Each year, more than 80 physician assistant programs from across the country compete in the national Challenge Bowl, a high-energy game-show-format competition in which students answer questions on a variety of topics ranging from anatomy, microbiology and psychiatry.
MDC previously won the Challenge Bowl in 2014 and 2016. The students competed with 83 other teams from universities across the country in San Antonio, Texas in 2016 to become national champions.
