SAVE to Launch Important PSA Campaign, “Family is Everything,” at MDC with U.S. Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and her Son, Transgender Advocate, Rodrigo Heng-Lehtinen

Miami, May 3, 2016 – Following extensive research demonstrating that frank and open discussions on LGBT issues increase acceptance and understanding, SAVE will launch an important PSA campaign, “Family is Everything,” at Miami Dade College (MDC) on May 16, with U.S. Congresswoman and MDC Alumna Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, her son Rodrigo Heng-Lehtinen and other community leaders. SAVE will also provide an update on the state of protections for the LGBT community and ground breaking research on SAVE’s efforts to reduce prejudice.

SAVE is recognized as South Florida’s leading organization dedicated to protecting people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) against discrimination. Since 1993, SAVE has advocated for equal rights for person of all sexual orientations and gender identities through political advocacy, community outreach, and other activities. Starting with the landmark passage of Miami’s Human Rights Ordinance in 1998, its expansion to protect the transgender community in 2014, and the recent litigation spearheaded by SAVE which resulted in marriage equality in Florida in January 2015, SAVE continues to lead the fight for LGBT equality. Its mission is to promote, protect, and defend equality for the LGBT community in South Florida and its vision is to have a community where people who are LGBT have full equality in all facets of life.
