Save the Date! Miami Dade College’s 39th Miami Book Fair Returns Nov. 13 – 20

Miami, Sept. 14, 2022 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) 39th Miami Book Fair (MBF) will once again take over downtown Miami Nov. 13 – 20, 2022, with both in-person and virtual events, featuring approximately 250 booksellers and exhibitors, more than 500 authors and entertainment for all ages.

Miami Book Fair will once again host hundreds of renowned authors in-person at MDC Wolfson Campus and online at miamibookfaironline.com, presenting in English, Spanish and Haitian Creole. This year’s stellar lineup includes Saturday Night Live comedian and actor Kevin Nealon (I exaggerate: My Brushes with Fame); Larry Csonka (Head On: A Memoir); Hernan Diaz (Trust: A Novel); Harvey Fierstein (I Was Better Last Night: A Memoir); Jimmy Johnson (Swagger: Super Bowls, Brass Balls, and Footballs – A Memoir); Sy Montgomery (The Hawk’s Way: Encounters with Fierce Beauty); Azar Nafisi (Reading Dangerously: The Subversive Power of Literature in Troubled Times); Michael Pollan (This is Your Mind on Plants); Matthew Ball (The Metaverse: And How It Will Revolutionize Everything); David E. Hoffman (Give Me Liberty: The True Story of Oswaldo Payá and his Daring Quest for a Free Cuba), Stacy Schiff (The Revolutionary: Samuel Adams); Patti Smith (A Book of Days), John Waters (Liarmouth: A Feel-Bad Romance) and many others.

This year’s official poster was created by Miami-based contemporary artist Jessy Nite, well-known for her large-scale outdoor installations that interact with the environment. Her public works and installations have been commissioned by multiple international cities, including Miami, Coral Gables, Jersey City and Vienna, as well as established brands such as Nike, Facebook, Instagram and Redbull. Her work has been exhibited across the U.S. and internationally, most notably in Miami, New York, Los Angeles, London, Zurich, Vienna, and Bangkok.

Other components of the Fair will be back in full swing as well. Children’s Alley provides fun and learning activities during the popular Street Fair weekend, Nov. 18 – 20, providing free admission to public school students K-12 on Friday, Nov. 18. Off the Shelf, previously known as The Porch, offers entertainment with games, live music and other activities. And this year, the book fair is partnering with MDC’s Museum of Art + Design (MOAD) to showcase artwork by New World School of the Arts alumnus and internationally-recognized artist Rafael Domenech.

The Fair’s virtual component, Miami Book Fair Online, offers author conversations not found elsewhere and some livestreams from events on campus. The complete Fair guide will be available online in Oct.
