Registration is Open for Miami Dade College’s 2020 Spring Semester

Miami, Nov. 27, 2019 – Registration is now open for the Miami Dade College’s (MDC) 2020 spring semester, which begins Tuesday, Jan. 7.

MDC’s eight campuses and outreach centers offer more than 300 distinct degree pathways leading to bachelor’s degrees, associate in arts and science degrees and numerous career training certificates in growing fields. The college offers Bachelor’s degrees in a wide variety of study fields and industries including supply chain management, information systems technology, biological sciences; electronics engineering; film, television & digital production; nursing; several education tracks; physician assistant studies; public safety; and supervision and management as well as hundreds of courses offered through MDC Online. In addition, the college offers other short-term programs including apprenticeships and professional development courses through continuing education.  

 Students can take advantage of new academic programs and facilities at MDC, including the groundbreaking Electric Vehicle Training Center at West CampusMDC is the first institution in the Southeastern United States to partner with Tesla to offer a certificate training program for service technicians called Tesla START, an accelerated 12-week program designed to arm students with the skills necessary to become an electric vehicle technician.

MDC’s recently inaugurated Cloud Computing Center at Padrón Campus allows technology leaders, industry experts and students to engage and learn about leading cloud platforms and receive industry certifications, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services, Generation and Microsoft. In addition, the Cloud Computing Center houses the only College Credit Certificate and Associate of Science degree in Enterprise Cloud Computing in the State.  The Enterprise Cloud Computing Program is designed to provide an opportunity to establish a foundation in architect-scalable, highly-available application solutions that leverage cloud computing services, utilizing best practices that focus on Cloud security, cost, and reliability.

The new Center for Learning, Innovation, and Simulation at Medical Campus is state-of-the-art facility designed to provide students with the training needed to excel in today’s fast-changing health care industry.  This five-story Center features an entire floor dedicated to advanced medical simulation that will facilitate the practice of working in real-world clinical environments such as operating and emergency rooms. With the help of innovative technology, students will be able to recreate various medical scenarios, helping reduce errors, improve safety and elevate the quality of patient care.

Augmenting already robust offerings in career advisement and resources, MDC launched its first MDC WORKS Next Generation Career Studio. Students can tap into all that career advice, training and support inside a new facility at Wolfson Campus.  In addition, they can touch screens and view interactive, 360-degree videos on a variety of careers to get an insider’s perspective, including scenarios like sitting inside a plane cockpit as it takes off and visiting an operating room during surgery. There is also a virtual reality (VR) room being outfitted, complete with VR goggles, that will allow for a more immersive experience in career exploration.
