Public Notice – Notice of Rulemaking and Notice of Meeting – District Board of Trustees of Miami Dade College

The  District  Board  of  Trustees  of Miami  Dade  College  will  hold  its  monthly   meeting  on  Tuesday,  March 21, 2023. The  meeting  will  begin at  8:00 a.m.  It will   be  held  at  the  Wolfson Campus  located  at 300 N.E. 2nd Avenue, Miami, Florida in the James K. Batten Community Room (Room 2106) and via livestream at https://www.mdc.edu/livestream

During the meeting, The District Board of Trustees will consider the amendment of the below Rules:

RULE NO. RULE TITLE RULE SUMMARY LAWS IMPLEMENTED
I-13 Textbook and Course Material Affordability and Transparency The purpose of the amended rule is to expand current Rule language to implement substantial changes required by State Board of Educational Rule 6A-14.092, Florida Administrative Code and to establish the College’s mission to reduce student costs while maintaining excellence in student educational experience. VIII-30 Placement Testing The purpose of the amended rule is to expand current Rule language to implement substantial changes required by State Board of Education Rule 6A-10.0315, Florida Administrative Code and to establish methods for assessing communication and computation skills and the minimum standards a student must achieve to demonstrate readiness to perform college-level work. VIII-80 Graduation Requirements The purpose of the amended rule is to align with postsecondary instructional unit definitions and awards defined in the State Board of Educational Rule 6A-14.030, Florida Administrative Code, specifically related to the expanded options for degree certificates at approved degree level.
