Miami Mayor Francis Suarez to Announce MDC Scholarship Fund Honoring College President Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón

Miami, July 9, 2019 – City of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez and City Manager Dr. Emilio T. Gonzalez will formally announce the creation of a new scholarship fund for Miami Dade College (MDC) students in honor of outgoing MDC’s President Dr. Eduardo J. Padrón.  The announcement and check presentation will take place at 2 p.m., Friday, July 19, at Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami.  The event is open to the public and working media.

Part of the City of Miami’s Path to Prosperity Initiative, the completion scholarship fund will support students who are in their final year of pursuing their degree at MDC. Mayor Suarez first shared plans for the scholarship fund during the renaming ceremony of the InterAmerican Campus to the Eduardo J. Padrón Campus.  Dr. Padrón is stepping down in August after nearly 25 years as College President and 50 years of service to MDC.
