Miami Fashion Institute at MDC Joins Miami Fashion Week to Host Master Classes June 1 – 3

Miami, May 24, 2017 – The cutting-edge Miami Fashion Institute (MFI) at Miami Dade College (MDC) has again joined Miami Fashion Week (MIAFW) to develop and offer dynamic master classes led by top industry experts focused on fashion and sustainability. The master classes will take place June 1 – 3, at Wolfson Campus in downtown Miami. MIAFW’s Honorary President, internationally-acclaimed actor Antonio Banderas, will lead the first session at 10 a.m., on Thursday, June 1. Master classes are made possible with support of the Knight Foundation.

Renowned speakers will also include Barbara Hulanicki, designer and artist; Orsola De Castro, founder and director of Fashion Revolution; Willie Walters, program director of fashion at London’s Central Saints Martins; Lucy Lara, editor-in-chief of Glamour Mexico and Latin America at Condé Nast; Javier Goyeneche, president and founder of Ecoalf; and Gabriella Smith, co-founder of The Upcycle Project Miami. An exhibition of UpCycle designs created by Miami Fashion Institute students will be showcased at Ice Palace Film Studios, where the runway shows will take place during Miami Fashion Week. The UpCycle Project pairs students and young designers with established mentors in the fashion industry as they create garments out of unconventional and recycled materials.
