Miami Dade College’s TV Station MDC-TV Wins Multiple Telly and Communicator Awards

Miami, June 6, 2022 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) television station, MDC-TV, has been recognized with six video awards among thousands of entries from the U.S. and abroad at the Telly and Communicator Awards, the latter conferred by the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts (AIVA). Three documentaries and a music performance earned MDC-TV Gold, Silver and Bronze awards. The awarded productions include:

  • Gold Telly and Silver Communicator Awards for From Dreams to Reality, the Ruston Academy Story.
  • Gold Communicator Award for a short documentary about MDC’s Rising Black Scholars Program winners.
  • Bronze Telly and Silver Communicator Awards for United We Stands international music performance.
  • Bronze Telly Award for the short documentary MIA/Circa a project produced in conjunction with Live Arts Miami.

Since its inception in 2008, MDC-TV has earned more than 30 video/television awards, including seven Emmy Awards and more than two dozen Telly, Communicator, and Davey Awards for video and television production excellence. All productions have been created with the assistance of students from MDC’s School of Entertainment & Design Technology (SEDT).

MDC-TV is a college-based local television station that cablecasts seven days a week, 24 hours a day, to more than 1.3 million households throughout Miami-Dade, Broward, and Monroe Counties. With the addition of MDC-TV’s live streaming video website and video-on-demand, the College’s original programming has the ability to reach a viewing audience of truly global proportions. All shows on the network are produced by Miami Dade College and showcase the outstanding academic programs and services the College offers the community. The studio productions are recorded in the state-of-the-art television facilities located at the North Campus operated under the direction of the School of Entertainment & Design Technology (SEDT). The production crew is made up of students pursuing a career in the television industry.
