Miami Dade College’s North Campus Pen Players to Present Hard Candy

Miami, June 7, 2018Miami Dade College’s (MDC) North Campus Pen Players will present Hard Candy by Jonathan Rand from Thursday, June 14 through Saturday, June 16, at 8 p.m.  The production is a silly and outrageously funny look at what it is like to witness interviews for a major corporation.

“Come and enjoy these special summer performances,” said MDC North and InterAmerican Campuses President, Dr. Malou C. Harrison.

Hard Candy is narrated through the eyes of Linda.  Performed by theater student Meilyn Cisnero, Linda is a young, enthusiastic secretary for Branff Enterprises, who later becomes worn-out and disgruntled as the years go by.

Rand, originally from Jacksonville, has written contemporary plays performed more than 21,000 times in 61 countries.  Hard Candy was a 1998 International Thespian Playworks winner and features job seekers trying every inappropriate means to climb the corporate ladder.

“You are sure to have a night of laughs with The Pen Players,” Director, Arts & Philosophy Department, Professor Andy Quiroga added.

Andy Quiroga, MDC’s North Campus Theatre Professor and Producing Artistic Director. is directing Hard Candy for The Pen Players.  A special bonus treat for audiences will be the four-person short play, Just Desserts by David MacGregor.  Christian Bresciani is the director for Just Desserts and Antwan Bell, Jr., is the assistant director for both productions.  Both will continue their theatre degree studies in the fall at the University of Central Florida.
