Miami Dade College’s Jazz at Wolfson Presents Wolfson Jazz Ensembles

Miami, March 6, 2017Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Arts and Philosophy Department will continue its successful jazz series, Jazz at Wolfson Presents, at 5:40 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, featuring Wolfson Jazz Ensembles, directed by Dr. Michael Di Liddo. All concerts are free and open to the public.

Three groups from the Wolfson Campus jazz program will be featured. The Verve Ensemble is named after the famous jazz record label founded by Norman Granz that often featured vocalists like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. The Horace Silver Group takes its name from the legendary pianist and composer. The Blue Note Ensemble pays tribute to the famed jazz record label of numerous classic and groundbreaking recordings from the ‘50s and ‘60s. All of these groups help young jazz musicians develop by presenting a wide range of jazz styles.

“The students have worked hard this term,” said Dr. Michael Di Liddo.  “They have meticulously studied their repertoire through intense listening and theoretic analysis. In the process they have developed a deeper respect and love for this great art form that they are anxious to share through their performance.”

MDC’s Jazz at Wolfson Presents features live performances that run monthly from September through April.
