Miami Dade College to Offer Google’s New IT Automation with Python Professional Certificate for Free

Miami Dade College (MDC) will begin offering the new Google IT Automation with Python Professional Certificate online starting on May 18. With support from Google.org, MDC will offer the certificate at no cost to students.

“We’re thrilled that Miami Dade College is bringing the Google IT Automation with Python Professional Certificate to their Idea Center, through a grant from Google.org,” said Natalie Van Kleef Conley, Product Lead at Google. “MDC is an educational powerhouse, and a pioneer in bringing this curriculum to learners in order to help accelerate their careers in IT.”

The 16-week program prepares students to advance in Information Technology (IT) careers and is designed to equip students with job-ready skills with Python, which is currently the most in-demand programming language by employers. The program will prepare students on IT tasks automation with Python, IT resources management at scale, and execution of technical skills to solve real-world IT problems. The Python program is part of Grow with Google, the company’s initiative to help ensure that the opportunities created by technology are available to everyone.

“This unique opportunity will increase our ability to train and employ talent locally, preparing students with one of the most in-demand skills in the technology field,” added Antonio Delgado, Dean of MDC’s School of Engineering, Technology and Design. “The program will help our students take their IT career to the next level.”

The program is open to students 18 and older interested in a career in Information Technology. Candidates should have foundational IT knowledge from previous education or IT related work experience. Applications are being accepted for 25 open spots in the first class.

“We are pleased to have been selected to offer the Google IT Automation with Python Professional Certificate and take pride in being a space for incubating new technology programs just like this one,” said Romi Bhatia, The Idea Center’s Executive Director.
