Miami Dade College to Host “Women Who Lead” Luncheon and Panel Discussion Dec. 8, as Part of the Road to the Investiture of President Pumariega

Miami, Dec. 3, 2021 – As part of a series of events leading up to the historic investiture of Miami Dade College’s (MDC) fifth and first female president, Madeline Pumariega, the College will host the “Women Who Lead” luncheon and panel discussion featuring some of South Florida’s most prominent women leaders at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at the Perez Art Museum Miami. The event and panel will be moderated by award-winning NBC 6 South Florida news anchor Jackie Nespral. Following the panel discussion, the Miami Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will announce a generous donation to the College. The event is by invitation but open to the working media.

Panelists include Melissa Medina, President eMerge; Alex Wilkis Wilson, Founder of Gilt & GLAMSQUAD and Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Clerisy and Felecia Hatcher, CEO, Black Ambition.

The panel will address topics such as women in entrepreneurship; the importance of women leadership for innovation; the role higher education plays developing future “women who lead;” emerging trends around tech and entrepreneurship and the future of work and higher education. In addition, there will be remarks from President Pumariega, MDC Board Vice Chairwomen Nicole Washington, immediate past Chairwomen of the MDC Foundation Board Julie Grimes, and students, plus musical performances.

President Pumariega’s investiture ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Miami with many important colleagues, leaders and stakeholders expected to participate and deliver greetings and remarks.
