Miami, April 19, 2022 – Miami Dade College (MDC) is announcing a Cloud Demo Day taking place at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, at MDC’s Cloud Computing Center. The Cloud Demo Day, co-planned with Amazon Web Services (AWS), connects cloud computing students about to graduate with companies looking for talent.
“We are excited to work with AWS to showcase our talented Cloud Computing students and create opportunities for employment in high-demand tech jobs”, said Manny Perez, Dean of the School of Engineering, Technology and Design at MDC.
During the event, MDC students will present a prototype project with a comprehensive design and implementation overview of cloud-based solutions they developed as part of a cloud capstone course. The course challenges students to research and innovate to implement a cloud native application by applying the skills they learned throughout the cloud degree. The lessons learned from the project provide students with real-world experiences to share with employers.
“These projects force students to think outside the bounds of just learning certification topics into being able to reason and perform in these complex cloud systems”, said Eric Meyer, leading cloud computing faculty at MDC.
The cloud capstone course at MDC curriculum from AWS Academy. The curriculum is developed and maintained by AWS subject matter experts to reflect current services and up-to-date best practices. Courses are taught by AWS Academy-accredited educators who are trained to help students become proficient in AWS technology.
Participating companies include Accenture, Belle Fleur Technologies, MasTec, Nub8, Slalom, World Fuel Services, and more.
