Miami Dade College Student Receives College Tuition Assistance from Make-A-Wish Southern Florida

Miami, Feb. 13, 2024 – In a heartwarming display of support, Make-A-Wish Southern Florida recently fulfilled the wish of Fernandye Eugene, a future business major at Miami Dade College (MDC), by providing her with $10,000 in tuition assistance. Eugene was presented with a check at a ceremony yesterday at MDC’s North Campus.

This generous gesture highlights Make-A-Wish’s commitment to education and underscores the importance of accessibility and opportunity for all who seek to attend college.

“At the core of MDC’s mission is our pursuit to transform lives for every student who comes here to dream. We are grateful for Make-A-Wish Southern Florida’s investment, which builds upon our commitment to pave pathways to opportunities for our students,” said MDC President Madeline Pumariega.

This life-changing gift will enable Eugene to continue pursuing her educational goals without the added stress of financial barriers.

Make-A-Wish Southern Florida has been a beacon of hope, granting wishes for children and youth. Their mission, to create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses, has been expanded in unique ways to impact the lives of deserving individuals within the community, such as the students at MDC.

MDC is committed to providing accessible education and is proud to support students in every way. This latest act of kindness from Make-A-Wish Southern Florida reaffirms the power of community support and its impact on fostering students’ educational aspirations.
