Miami Dade College Names IT Leader Tanya Acevedo Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer

Miami, Sept. 15, 2021Tanya Acevedo has been named as Miami Dade College’s (MDC) new Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer. With three decades of experience, Acevedo has a proven track record of establishing the technology vision and leading innovative strategies to advance the objectives of large organizations.

Most recently, Acevedo served as Chief Technology Officer for Bush Intercontinental and William P. Hobby Airports in Houston, Texas. Prior to that, she was the Chief Information Officer for Travis County in Austin, Texas, where she was responsible for the technology strategic direction and operation of one of the largest counties in the nation. She has also held various technology management and consulting roles at County of Orange, California, Toyota Financial Services, Edmunds.com and Answerthink Consulting, to name a few.

She holds a master’s degree in business administration from Central Michigan University and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Michigan State University. She is also a certified Project Management Professional. In 2021, she was recognized as a Public Sector finalist by the Houston CIO of the Year ORIBE awards. In 2017, she was listed in Government Technology magazine as a Top 25 Doers, Dreamers and Driver. In addition, in 2016, she received the Texas Public Sector, Chief Information Officer of the Year and, in 2013, the IT Woman of the Year from Austin, Texas Innotech.
