Miami Dade College InterAmerican Campus Presents a Photographic Journey to Nepal

Miami, May 12, 2016 – Cristian Lazzari spent an autumn week in Nepal in 2014 photographing the beautiful country and its people. The following spring, a devastating earthquake destroyed most of what he had captured with his lens. The photos are now part of a new exhibition, Mystic Wisdom: Cristian Lazzari Photographs Nepal, presented by Miami Dade College’s (MDC) InterAmerican Campus, MDC Art Galleries of Art + Design and the Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Committee. The exhibition opens with a reception Thursday, May 26, at 6 p.m.

Lazzari is a staff photographer at MDC. He was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he studied photography and black & white lab techniques, which he further developed while living in Torino, Italy. He moved back to Argentina in 1984 and began a successful career as commercial photographer in industrial and advertising markets. In Miami, he was photo editor for Poder magazine and Hispanic magazine prior to MDC.

The exhibition will remain on display through August 4. Other Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month events at IAC include a Japanese Tea Ceremony, film screening of Letter from Iwajima and students activities to be announced.
