Miami Dade College Hialeah Campus to Host Leadership Experience

Miami, July 7, 2016- Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Hialeah Campus will host the Leadership Experience, July 14-15, which aims to provide a foundation for students to become change makers in their communities.

The event kicks off July 14 with a Hialeah History Bus Tour with MDC professor and renowned local historian Dr. Paul George.  Students will explore the places, stories, and heritage that make Hialeah unique. The goal is to offer a deeper appreciation for Hialeah and highlight the influences Hispanic Americans have had in the city.

On July 15, community organization The New Florida Majority, will guide students through an overview of social justice issues, strategies of being engaged in the community and project organization.  Students will gain a better understanding of the issues facing the community and how to become empowered to address those concerns.
