Miami Dade College Celebrates Women’s History Month

Miami, March 7, 2018 – Throughout the month of March, Miami Dade College (MDC) will offer a variety of exciting, informative and fun events in honor of Women’s History Month. Unless otherwise noted, all events are free and open to the community and will take place at MDC’s eight campuses and outreach centers.

MDC recognizes women changemakers who have not only made an impact in their respective industries, but who have steadily kept the wheels of progress turning for future generations. From politics to the arts, they have led the way in moving women up the corporate ladder, building a stronger, more diverse workforce.

Panel Discussion: Women in Security and Emergency Services  

Event will feature an opening presentation about the history of women in security and emergency services fields. Panelists will discuss obstacles in their professional and personal experiences and what strategies they implemented to overcome these obstacles.

Girls Who Code

My Body is Me Series / #MeToo Art Installation
The art installation will feature a clothesline with underwear as a visual representation of sexual assault harassment women experience. Inspiring excerpts of hope and survival from Eve Ensler’s book I Am An Emotional Creature will be posted throughout the installation. In addition, members of Hermione’s Army, champions for social justice around the globe, will lead an experimental activity and guided reflection.
