Miami Dade College Announces Speakers for its Commencement Ceremonies on May 4

Miami, April 3, 2019 – On Saturday, May 4, Miami Dade College (MDC) will host five commencement ceremonies where thousands of MDC graduates will hear from top national and local leaders in various fields, including education, business and hospitality.

This year’s speakers are Dr. David Oxtoby, President of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; Mark Wilson, President & CEO, Florida Chamber of Commerce; Sol Trujillo, Chairman, Sol Trujillo Group, LLC.; Julie Grimes, Managing Partner of Hilton Bentley Hotel and Chair of the MDC Foundation Board; and Dr. Daniel R. Porterfield, President & CEO of The Aspen Institute.

In addition, MDC will award honorary degrees to philanthropists Trish and Dan Bell; acclaimed journalist Michael Putney, WPLG’s This Week in South Florida co-host, senior political reporter and columnist; philanthropists Paul and Swanee DiMare; philanthropists Carlos and Rosa de la Cruz; and Mitchell Kaplan, owner of Books & Books and Miami Book Fair co-founder.

Past speakers and honorees have included U.S. Presidents, Members of Cabinet, Fortune 500 CEOs and other leaders, thinkers and luminaries.
