Miami, April 11, 2017 – From building robots to playing Latin jazz, Miami Dade College’s (MDC) unique summer camps are unmatched in variety, quality and fun! Open to kids, tweens and teens, the camps will be available at MDC campuses.
Some of this year’s highlights include Robotics Camp, at the North Campus, and the Graphic Design Camp, at the InterAmerican Campus. Returning favorites include Animation, 3D Gaming Design, Learn to Code, Young Architects, Latin Jazz Experience, Kids/Teen College, Camp Wannadraw, as well as the popular Wild Things Happen Camp and Kidscene Camp, traditional summer camps where children participate in field trips, sports, reading, games, and more.

Graphic Design Camp (Ages 12-17) – $249
This week-long summer program allows students to explore their creativity, and develop and improve their graphic design skills while mastering professional design tools such as Adobe Photoshop. Learn to create a logo, magazine cover or ad and share work with friends and family or prospective clients.
Summer Music Experience (Ages 9-13) – $499
Share a love of music with like-minded individuals as students play, sing and dance on stage to their favorite tunes. A team of world-class musicians will guide students through this amazing music experience in a state-of-the-art music academy equipped with instruments, live stage and much more!

An educational yet fun environment where kids, teens and parents can customize their schedule and choose classes they like the most. Kids and teens can choose from a wide variety of weekly programs and activities such as Lego® Robotics, Computers and Technology, Science and Nature, Modeling, Reading, Photography and so much more!
Wild Things Happen Summer Camp (Ages 5-11) – $155

Kidscene Camp (Ages 5-11) – $120
Campers participate in reading, swimming, social skills, sports, music and environmental activities. Field trips included. Lunch and snacks included. Register students for one week, or select one of the three or nine week clusters and save.
Robotics (Ages 14-18) – Free
Three-week Robotics Camp made possible by the U.S. Department of Education STEM EngInE (Engage-Intern-Educate) grant. At the end of camp, students participate in an exciting two-day Robotics Challenge where they compete in teams for prizes. Application required since limited spaces available.

Chinese Language and Culture Camp (Ages 6-12) – $220
This camp hosted by the renowned Confucius Institute aims to help children develop cultural awareness and heighten their knowledge of global communities through interactive lessons and activities. Campers will learn language basics to communicate in Mandarin Chinese, learn about the art of Chinese calligraphy, participate and host tea ceremonies, and learn martial arts skills.
Art & Improv Summer Camp (Ages 6-12) – $220
Have fun learning sculpture, painting, and drawing techniques using various media. Develop your public speaking, teamwork, and leadership skills as you learn how to think on your feet with our improvisation classes.

Animation Camp @ MAGIC (Ages 14-19)
Students will get an introduction to character design and animation using Autodesk Maya, the application used by top video game development and film studios. Skills development will focus on the use of Autodesk Maya and Adobe Photoshop. This class is project based; students will have the opportunity to complete a portfolio of their own animation. Pre-Requisite: Basic computer skills.
3D Gaming Design Camp @ MAGIC (Ages 14-19)
Students will learn the premier 3D modeling, animation, effects, and rendering software packages on the market. Using the industry-standard, intuitive toolset featured in Autodesk Maya realistic 3D models will be created and prepare them for game play in a gaming engine. Skills development will focus on the use of Autodesk Maya and Adobe Photoshop. Requisite: Basic computer skills.
