Miami, Oct. 30, 2018 – Historia Cultural de Cuba, an educational program on the pre-revolutionary history of Cuba produced by Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Emmy-winning television network, MDC-TV, will be broadcast on TV Marti, which transmits to Cuba. There will be a signing ceremony with MDC President Dr. Eduardo J. Historia Cultural de Cuba was created by retired MDC professor Dr. Mercedes Cros-Sandoval in 2013 and has been running on MDC-TV ever since with nearly 50 episodes completed. Dr. Cros-Sandoval joined MDC’s North Campus in 1968. In 1970, she started teaching newly-arrived Cubans the cultural history of their country to promote their identity and to promote the study of history, and more specifically, cultural history. Her courses, as well as television program, cover architecture, arts, music, afro-Cuban history, religion, politics, women’s issues, the economy, health, education, and the masons, among other topics.

MDC-TV broadcasts its programming seven days a week to 1.3 million households throughout Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe countries. With the addition of MDC-TV’s live streaming video website and video-on-demand, the College’s original programming has the ability to reach a viewing audience of truly global proportions. All shows broadcast on the network are produced by MDC and showcase the college’s outstanding academic programs and services. The studio productions are recorded in the state-of-the-art television facilities located at the North Campus under the direction of the School of Entertainment & Design Technology.
