Miami Dade College Accepting Applications for Next Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program

Grants open to eligible South Florida small businesses; deadline to apply is Feb. 18

Miami, Feb. 12, 2021 – Helping small businesses across South Florida grow, Miami Dade College (MDC) is now accepting applications for the next Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses (10KSB) program beginning May 10, 2021. The next cohort session will be held virtually. The deadline to apply is Feb. 18.

Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program at MDC is a top-rated entrepreneurship program designed to empower small business leaders. Through a 9-module cohort of workshops, peer-to-peer networking, business advising sessions and more, participants gain powerful knowledge and expert insight, giving them the tools needed for success and growth of their business.

“Our commitment to the success of small business entrepreneurship in our community is as strong as ever,” said Pamela Fuertes, Executive Director of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program at MDC. “Since 2013, our program has helped more than 575 small businesses in our community. This number represents more than 10,000 direct, full-time jobs and $826 million in revenues, with numbers growing each cohort. Each cohort class also represents a vast pool of entrepreneurs with diverse backgrounds in race and ethnicity, industry, gender and generational coming from the creative communities, manufacturing, trade and logistics, aviation, wellness, technology, professional services and more.”

MDC’s program is part of a national network of 20 sites across the U.S. With a 100+ network strong, small businesses gain practical business education designed and co-delivered in partnership with Babson College, the national leader in entrepreneurship education, a global network of support from expert business advisors, and access to lending capital from local, regional and national Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and other mission-driven small business lenders.

The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program is an initiative of the Goldman Sachs Foundation. Other partners include ICIC, and Babson College. And championing support from the local South Florida business community is Miami Dade Chamber of Commerce, The Miami-Dade Beacon Council, Prospera – South Florida, the Office of Small Business Development (SBD) of Miami Dade County, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, Cámara de Comercio e Industria Latina de los Estados Unidos (CAMACOL), Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), among other key economic development stakeholders.

Through the generous funding of the Goldman Sachs Foundation, small businesses in South Florida are eligible to enroll for one of the three standing cohorts. Qualifying business owners must be based in South Florida, be in operation for at least two years, have a minimum revenue of $100,000 in the most recent fiscal year and have a minimum of two full-time employees.
