Miami Commissioner Frank Carollo and MDC’s School of Justice Release Comprehensive Goals NOT Guns Report to the Community

Following his recent, successful daylong forum on youth gun violence, Goals NOT Guns, and his related Goals NOT Guns 5K Run, Walk and Pedal event that has galvanized the community, Miami Commissioner Frank Carollo and Miami Dade College’s (MDC) School of Justice today released a report to the community. The announcement was made at the site of a recent deadly youth gun violence incident where a 16 year old lost his life.

“Back on April 7, at Goals NOT Guns, I pledged to make eliminating youth gun violence in Greater Miami a top priority. I also announced that all related efforts were only the beginning and that I would release a thorough report to the community in an effort to turn this serious epidemic around,” said Commissioner Carollo.

The report contains many key recommendations for government and stakeholders that have been gleaned from best practices across the country. It also contains goals from participants at the Forum which was held at MDC’s Tower Theater.

“I appreciate the feedback and goals from the more than 30 agency heads who participated in Goals NOT Guns. I also appreciate the guidance and hard work of MDC’s School of Justice and its leadership. I know we are already removing the barriers and silos and that collectively we will make a difference,” added Commissioner Carollo.
