Miami Book Fair to Host Lip Service: True Stories Out Loud

Miami, Aug. 15, 2018 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) acclaimed Miami Book Fair (MBF) will present the popular live storytelling series Lip Service: True Stories Out Loud at 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Lightbox Theater at Goldman Warehouse.

A blend of theater, storytelling, and literature, Lip Service solicits true, personal stories from the community. Anyone can submit a story. From those submissions, Lip Service selects eight stories. The selected submissions are edited by Lip Service producers, and the storytellers are coached how to present their story before a live audience. This show’s theme will be “Craving with Consequences.” The stories presented at Lip Service shows are hilarious, heartbreaking, poignant, embarrassing, inspiring—and all true! Though Lip Service stories are edited and rehearsed, the setting and the live audience guarantee a spontaneous night like no other. Please note: Lip Service stories and language may not be appropriate for children.

Founded in 2006, Lip Service began as an intimate gathering of storytellers and story lovers, which grew into a literary happening that regularly draws hundreds of people. Lip Service is part of MBF’s roster of ongoing, year-round programs.

Tickets are $20.  To purchase tickets, visit https://www.miamibookfair.com/event/lip-service-presents-a-night-of-true-stories-out-loud-3/
