MDC’s School of Entertainment and Design Technology Launches First-Ever Telemundo Academy

Miami, June 6, 2019 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) acclaimed School of Entertainment and Design Technology (SEDT) and Telemundo, the industry leader in the production and distribution of high-quality Spanish-language content, have teamed up again to launch the first-ever Telemundo Academy at MDC.

As part of the ongoing partnership with Telemundo, the pilot course this summer is led by SEDT Professor Adrian Garcia, who has developed curriculum alongside Telemundo. More than 30 students will embark on a six-week dynamic and interactive learning experience this summer. The course, which combines in-class facilitation, hands-on training and access to on-air talent, culminates with student-produced original promotion campaigns aimed at driving viewership to the Latin American Music Awards.

“This is an outstanding opportunity for our students to have full access to the new Telemundo state-of-the-art facility and work. alongside Telemundo executives as they critique and polish their work,” said Dr. Malou C. Harrison, President of North and Eduardo J. Padrón Campuses.

Upon completion of the course, students will receive a certificate. One lucky student will be offered a paid-internship at Telemundo beginning in the fall.

The Telemundo Academy course is currently being offered in the summer and fall semesters.  To register or for more information about MDC’s television and film production programs, please contact the School of Entertainment & Design Technology at 305-237-1696 or visit www.mdc.edu/sedt.
