MDC’s North Campus to Host School of Justice Open House and Training Demonstrations

Miami, Feb. 23, 2017 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) School of Justice (SOJ) will highlight its education and training in public service at its Open House and Tour from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Monday, Feb. 27, with a formal community address at 11:30 a.m., at MDC’s North Campus.

The open house will feature a firsthand look at tactical training simulations, defensive driving and a tour of the mock courtroom, crime scene room, and the various other facilities that support the training of many of the law enforcement officials in South Florida.  Florida State Sen. Oscar Braynon II, Police Department Chiefs, and officials representing various branches of law enforcement will attend the event.   The formal community address will take place at 11:30 a.m. and include remarks by State Sen. Oscar Braynon II. Shortly thereafter, there will be a formal Pass in Review uniform and line inspection of one of the current Basic Law Enforcement classes as a demonstration for high school students and community members in attendance.

SOJ has been on the cutting edge in providing training and support in the areas of Legitimacy and Procedural Justice, Fair and Impartial Policing, and De-escalation. SOJ has been training and educating public safety professionals for more than 40 years, domestically and internationally. More than 80 percent of all public safety professionals in Miami-Dade County have been trained at the School of Justice.

The SOJ is an internationally recognized public safety and educational training center. The school offers associates degrees, baccalaureate degrees, college credit certificates, certifications in basic law enforcement, corrections and firefighter, and private security, and specialized executive leadership training and assessment services.
