MDC’s North Campus Presents First Music Composition Festival Nov. 21

Miami, Nov. 8, 2017 – The Arts & Philosophy Department at Miami Dade College’s (MDC) North Campus will host its first-ever Composition Festival on Tuesday, Nov. 21. This event is free and open to all advanced music students across Miami-Dade County.

Led by the MDC Symphony Orchestra, the festival will present a program devoted to the art of musical composition. It will open with a joint ceremony led by Marc Douyon and Alberto Bade, focusing on “Music as a Language.”  Immediately following, students will be divided into three groups that will rotate into sessions that focus on the three main areas of composition: Music of Living Composers with Ana Rodriguez; Jazz Composition with Ed Calle; and Film Scoring with Alberto Bade. Composer Maestro Thomas Sleeper, Director of Orchestral Studies at the University of Miami, is also a special guest. The MDC Symphony Orchestra will perform some of his works including his Symphony No 1.
