MDC’s North Campus and Links Inc. Greater Miami Chapter to Present Acclaimed Author Natalie Baszile Sept. 29

Author Natalie Baszile will kick off North Campus’ Engagement Series “The Power of Your Story”

Miami, Sept. 21, 2017Miami Dade College’s (MDC) North Campus in partnership with Links Inc. Greater Miami Chapter will host renowned Natalie Baszile, author of Queen Sugar on Friday, Sept. 29 at 10 a.m.  Registration is required, the program is open to all MDC students.

“We are honored to bring to our students such a distinguished writer and role model. Natalie Baszile inspires all of us to be the writers of the stories we dream about,” said MDC North and InterAmerican Campuses President, Dr. Malou C. Harrison.

Queen Sugar is the story of an African American woman who inherits land, filled with acres of sugarcane. Her journey and struggles are far from over when she moves to Louisiana to take charge of the land. The story is filled with struggles, opportunities, family values and starting new chapters. The novel adaptation can be seen on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network.

Baszile has a master’s degree in African-American studies from the University of California and a Masters of Fine Arts Degree from the Warren Wilson Program for Writers.  Her other accomplishments and accolades span the gamut.
