MDC’s Miami Book Fair Presents the Porch: the Ultimate Outdoor Urban Hangout

MIAMI BOOK FAIR Nov. 13 – 20, 2016

Presented and produced by Miami Dade College

Miami, Nov. 1, 2016 Miami Dade College’s (MDC) acclaimed Miami Book Fair, (MBF) the nation’s finest and largest literary gathering, is bringing back The Porch and it’s bigger and better than ever! This year, the ultimate outdoor urban hangout will feature live music, art, poetry, comedy, cabaret, games, a mobile story booth, food, craft beers, and more. Stop by every day to take part in a Silent Poetry Disco, admire the beautiful Living Walls from Andromeda District, immerse yourself in the street art photography murals by Andrew Kaufman and contribute to the Wynwood Coloring Book’s community coloring wall! Events will be held day and night from Sunday, Nov. 13, through closing day Sunday, Nov. 20. Unless otherwise noted, all events at The Porch are free.

“Open and green spaces contribute so much to our city’s vibrancy,” said Javier Alberto Soto, president and CEO of The Miami Foundation. “The popularity of The Porch shows residents’ enthusiasm for more public gathering spots. The book fair always does a great job of bringing the community together and we look forward to joining them again this year to activate downtown in this pop-up gather space.”

Sponsored by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, the Miami Foundation, WVUM, and Living Walls, The Porch is located at the corner of N.E. 2nd Ave and N.E. 3rd St.
