MDC’s Miami Animation and Gaming International Complex Presents Chief Creative Officer for Doghead Simulations, Creator of the Call of Duty Franchise

Miami, Oct. 31, 2018 Miami Dade College’s (MDC) acclaimed Miami Animation and Gaming International Complex (MAGIC) presents Chief Creative Officer for Doghead Simulations, Chance Glasco, as part of its Art of Tech Lecture Series at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Nov. 7. This event is sponsored by Sprint.

As one of the founding members of the popular Call of Duty franchise’s team, Glasco has had a profound impact on the last decade of video games. After graduating from Full Sail University’s computer animation program in 2001, Glasco worked as an animator on Allied Assault, which was released in 2001 to critical acclaim. From there, he and a group of co-workers took a risk and launched their own studio. The result: Infinity Ward, the Call of Duty franchise, and more than 100 million copies sold. Glasco’s specialty from the start has been creating the animations for the arsenal of weapons that players use during the games. Their level of realism is among one of the highlights of the Call of Duty experience – and has helped the game earn celebrity endorsements and break sales records.

“Looking back, starting by coming out to California, sleeping in my car, and then going to where we are now – on a franchise that’s the biggest in the world right now — it’s amazing,” Glasco said. “I’m so blessed to have gone from that to this. All these numbers, the amount of people playing it, the popularity of the game – I feel humbled.”

MAGIC’s The Art of Tech series empowers, elevates and inspires innovation within the growing digital technologies industry. The speaker series brings together a wide spectrum of executive level professionals in the areas of Computer Animation, Gaming, Visual Effects, Motion Graphics, Virtual and Augmented Reality.

Located at MDC’s Wolfson Campus, MAGIC offers an Associate in Science degree in Animation & Game Art or Game Development & Design, and Immersive Technologies Certificate program on virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Students in the intensive, hands-on two-year program develop skills in modeling, lighting, motion, sound, and storytelling, as well as gain command of the technical skills required in today’s highly competitive animation industry. Students also benefit from key partnerships and mentorships with industry leaders, including alliances with Alienware, Baptist Hospital, Disney, Discovery Communications, Nickelodeon, Museu do Amanhã, Pixar’s RenderMan, and Univision Communications, among others.
