MDC’s Miami Animation & Gaming International Complex Presents a Talk with First Contact Entertainment’s Animation Director

Miami, Aug. 20, 2018 Miami Dade College’s (MDC) acclaimed Miami Animation and Gaming International Complex (MAGIC) presents Animation Director at First Contact Entertainment Bill Buckley as part of its Art of Tech Lecture Series at 11 a.m., ThursdaySept. 6. This event is sponsored by Sprint and is a part of I AM MDC Day, a celebration of the life-changing impact MDC has made on more than two million students, their families and the community.

Buckley has been a developer in the video game industry for more than ten years, working with major companies, including THQ, Disney Interactive, Limbic, SCEA, Activision (Neversoft and Infinity Ward) and StarBreeze. He has also served as Senior Animator, Story Artist, Writer, Digital Cinematographer, Concept Artist, and currently, Animation Director with First Contact Entertainment. His work includes major titles, such as Tony Hawk Proving Ground, WWE Smackdown vs. Raw, NBA 2007, Disney’s Club Penguin, eight Guitar Hero titles, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, John Wick The Impossible Task in VR, ROM Extraction and FireWall Zero Hour. Buckley is also a lecturer, mentor and teacher of animation and game development both domestically and abroad.

MAGIC’s The Art of Tech series empowers, elevates and inspires innovation within the growing digital technologies industry. The speaker series brings together a wide spectrum of executive level professionals in the areas of Computer Animation, Gaming, Visual Effects, Motion Graphics, Virtual and Augmented Reality.

Located at MDC’s Wolfson Campus, MAGIC offers an Associate in Science degree in Animation & Game Art or Game Development & Design, and Immersive Technologies Certificate program on virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). Students in the intensive, hands-on two-year program develop skills in modeling, lighting, motion, sound, and storytelling, as well as gain command of the technical skills required in today’s highly competitive animation industry.
