Miami, August 17, 2023 – Those seeking to upskill and retrain to succeed in the current job market are encouraged to register for Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Kick-Start Program, an initiative for new students and current students, which covers 100% of tuition and fees and provides $250 book stipends.
“MDC’s high-quality, relevant workforce training programs enable members of our community to gain in-demand skills and credentials that employers value,” stated Dr. Malou C. Harrison, MDC’s Executive Vice President and Provost.
Select certificate programs will be offered during the fall term, which begins August 21, in four modalities: In-person, MDC LIVE, blended and online. Upon completion, students will receive a College Credit Certificate which is added to their transcripts, and credits earned can be applied toward a related Associate in Science degree.
Initially launched in 2020, the Kick-Start Program has aided more than 300 students in reaching their academic goals and graduating from a college credit certificate program, leading them to new and better job opportunities.
MDC’s Kick-Start Program funds College Credit Certificates that lead to in-demand, high-wage occupations. The certificates include Accounting and Budgeting; Business Entrepreneurship Specialist, Start-Up Venture; Business Intelligence Professional; Chef’s Apprentice; Digital Marketing Specialist; Early Childhood Education Administrator; Early Childhood Education, Child Development Early Intervention Specialization; Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Education Inclusion Specialization; Early Childhood Education, Preschool; Emergency Medical Technician; Enterprise Cloud Computing; Graphic Design Support; Help Desk Support Technician; Infant/Toddler Specialization; Lean Manufacturing; Logistics and Transportation Specialist; Network Security; Pattern Making and Construction and Virtual and Augmented Reality Technologies.
Students enrolled in the Kick-Start program will also have access to MDC WORKS, the college’s career studio offering access to coaches, mentors 2,000 jobs and internships.
