MDC’s InterAmerican Campus to Host “The Opioid Crisis in Florida” Seminar on March 28

Miami, March 16, 2018 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) InterAmerican Campus will present “The Opioids Crisis in Florida,a seminar by Florida Department of Health staff members Emily Moore, MPH and Alyssa Falise, Injury Epidemiologist, at noon on Wednesday, March 28. This event is free and open to the public.

Moore and Falise will present the latest findings and efforts to help reduce and control opioid use and inform students and staff how to look for signs of abuse of ethical pain medication in the community.

In addition, MDC Professor Dr. Carlos Fernandez’s Organic Chemistry students will share their research on the leading abused painkillers and the antidote used to prevent deaths from overdosing.
