MDC’s InterAmerican Campus to Host Family-Focused Festival for the Cures to Fight Cancer

Miami, Oct. 24, 2018 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) InterAmerican Campus will host the Festival for the Cures, Friday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m.  The event will culminate the On P.A.R. with Cancer’s monthlong initiative in bringing attention to the Prevention, Awareness and Research (P.A.R.) of Cancer.  City of Miami Commissioner Joe Carollo and Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins will present proclamations at the family-friendly festival that is free and open to the public.

“Student members from all MDC campuses will come together with one mission – to bring attention to this very worthy cause,” said Alejandro Garcia, PTK President and InterAmerican Campus student.

The On P.A.R. with Cancer initiative is a student-led initiative organized by the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) student organization.  This festival will feature a variety of live entertainment, fun activities, games, and much more.

About the On P.A.R. with Cancer initiative

During the month of October, the MDC InterAmerican Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society students launched the initiative, On P.A.R. with Cancer. This initiative involved several academic and informative forums on varying aspects of cancer.  It also raised funds to support local organizations that work towards cancer Prevention, Awareness and Research with guidance from PTK faculty advisor, Professor Diego Tibaquira.
