MDC’s Freedom Tower Goes Pink in Celebration of Inter Miami CF’s First MLS Playoff Appearance

Miami, Nov. 18, 2020 Miami Dade College’s (MDC) National Historic Landmark Freedom Tower will be illuminated pink at sunset on Friday, Nov. 20., in celebration of the Inter Miami CF playing in the 2020 Audi Major League Soccer Cup Playoffs this Friday against Nashville SC. Inter Miami will make its first-ever playoff appearance, a milestone few clubs have reached during an inaugural season.

Inter Miami made its official debut as MLS’s 25th franchise in March 2020 with two road games before the league shut down on the heels of the pandemic. The club participated in the MLS is Back Tournament playing behind closed doors in Orlando in July and resumed league play at home in August for the remainder of the season. The club’s motto written in Spanish, “Libertad, Unidad, Fortuna,” pays tribute to the concepts of freedom, unity, solidarity, inclusiveness, opportunity and good fortune for all.  The club is led by a dynamic ownership group including soccer legend David Beckham, Jorge and Jose Mas as well as Marcelo Claure.
