MDC to Illuminate Freedom Tower Purple for Give Miami Day Nov. 17

Miami, Nov. 7, 2016- Miami Dade College’s (MDC) National Historic Landmark Freedom Tower will be illuminated purple at sunset, Thursday, Nov. 17, for Give Miami Day, which allows all individuals in the community to make a philanthropic impact by collectively supporting local nonprofit organizations.

Twenty-four hours of giving begins at 12 a.m., Nov. 17 and ends at 12 a.m., on Nov.  18. Throughout the day, individuals may view online profiles of more than 600 nonprofit organizations serving Miami-Dade County, including MDC’s Miami Book Fair, and make a charitable gift at givemiamiday.org.

The Miami Foundation, which organizes Give Miami Day, and its partners will maximize the community’s generosity by making a bonus gift for every donation between $25 and $10,000 received on Nov. 17 through givemiamiday.org.

Established in 1967, The Miami Foundation uses civic leadership, community investment and philanthropy to improve the quality of life for everyone who calls Greater Miami home. For more information, visit miamifoundation.org and ourmiami.org.
