Miami, Aug. 8, 2016 – In celebration of National Aviation Day at Miami International Airport (MIA) on Aug. 19, Miami Dade College’s (MDC) acclaimed Eig-Watson School of Aviation will showcase its state-of-the-art programs. The public will also have the opportunity to get in the pilot’s seat and experience advanced flight maneuvers aboard the school’s flight simulators. This event is free and open to the public.
National Aviation Day was established by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1939 to celebrate the development of aviation in America. The day of commemoration is also the birthday of Orville Wright, who, along with his brother Wilbur, invented the first successful airplane in 1903.
Special guests will include Miami-Dade Aviation Department Director Dr. Emilio T. González and MDC Homestead Campus President Dr. Jeanne F. Jacobs.
