MDC President and VP of Innovation & Technology Partnerships to Speak at Smart City Expo Sept. 14

Miami, Sept. 9, 2022 – Miami Dade College (MDC) President Madeline Pumariega and Antonio Delgado, MDC’s Vice President of Innovation and Technology Partnerships, will be among distinguished speakers at the Smart City Expo, the U.S.’s leading event for building smart, sustainable, and equitable 21st-century cities, taking place Sept. 14 and 15 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

President Pumariega will be a part of the Universities: Centers of Smart City Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum on Wednesday, Sep. 14, from 1 – 1:40 p.m. She will be joined by Karen Lightman, Executive Director, Metro21: Smart Cities Institute, Carnegie Mellon University; Teresa Grandal Cusse, Assistant Executive Director and Alan B. Levan, NSU Broward Center of Innovation. The forum will be moderated by Raul Moas, Senior Director, Miami, Knight Foundation.

On Thursday, Sept. 15, at 11:25 a.m., Delgado will participate in the panel discussion Cybersecurity: Protecting Against Invisible Threats. He will be joined by Katie Savage, Deputy Chief Digital and AI Officer for Digital Services, Department of Defense; Michael Sherwood, CIO, City of Las Vegas and Hardie Davis, Jr., Mayor, City of Augusta; Chair, Smart City Expo USA.

More than 100 cities and 100 speakers have been invited to the event where over 3000 visitors are expected to attend. Event partners include the National League of Cities, the African American Mayors Association, and the conference’s host, City of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez.
