MDC North Campus Student Selected for Prestigious NASA Internship

Miami, April 22, 2024 – Nicolas Gonzalez, a first-year student and member of the AI & Robotics Club at Miami Dade College (MDC) North Campus, has been selected for a coveted internship at the prestigious NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama. The internship spans nine weeks, starting on May 27, providing Gonzalez with an immersive and hands-on learning experience within the heart of NASA’s operations.

Mentored by Prof. Dr. Manuel Carames, Gonzalez has been chosen to participate in the MSEIP-NASA HEDO 2024 Summer Internship Program, renowned for its competitive selection process. The program offers invaluable experience in various aspects of NASA’s operations, including Human Spaceflight Operations, Software Engineering and Development, NASA software processes, Ground Systems Engineering, Systems Engineering and more.

Gonzalez stood out among numerous applicants and secured one of only two summer intern positions. He will be contributing to Project 2 – HP23 Planning and Analysis – as a Software Developer focusing on Stowage Automation. This role will see him assisting with software automation at the Huntsville Operations Support Center (HOSC), a pivotal aspect of NASA’s ongoing missions and initiatives.
