MDC Kendall Campus Launches On Stage Performance Series

Miami, FL. April 12, 2018Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Kendall Campus announces On Stage, an exciting music and performing arts series featuring MDC Music, Dance and Theater students and faculty throughout the month of April. Events in the series are produced by MDC faculty and most events are free and open to the public.

Each On Stage season offers a new line-up featuring entertaining and culturally significant performances by accomplished artists and rising stars. On Stage encompasses all of the performing arts – from jazz and gospel music to classical and theatrical realism and experimental dance. Most performances take place at MDC Kendall Campus and include workshops and conferences led by MDC faculty and staff, as well as visiting artists.

The Artistry in Rhythm (A.I.R.): Engaging the Community Dance conference will present a wonderful opportunity to learn from various instructors, choreographers and dancers from a global perspective.  The conference offers a wide variety of master classes, presentations, lectures/demonstrations and performances. A.I.R. is a scholarly dance conference that seeks to explore the significance of community engagement through the vernacular of dance, encourage community growth and development, and enhance professional development within an academic setting. Master Classes will be offered in Contemporary Ballet, Contemporary Modern Dance, Funk, Improvisation, Acting for Dancers, Audition Skills, Dance Composition, Somatic Movement forms, Yoga, Hip-hop, West African, Afro-Caribbean and Afro-Fusion. Registration is required to attend. and Conference will take place at MDC Kendall Campus Martin and Pat Fine Center Theatre.

Civic Chorale of Greater Miami MDC Chamber Singers: Brahms’ Requiem

Since its inception in 1970, the Civic Chorale of Greater Miami has grown to more then sixty singers comprised of both Miami Dade College students and community singers from all walks of life. The ensemble represents the diversity of the South Florida community and ranges in age from the young to the young at heart with a shared love and appreciation for singing and choral music. The talented group of musicians will perform Brahms’ Requiem with a post concert reception featuring entertainment by Pianist, Mike Gerber. Tickets are available at www.civicchorale.info
