MDC Hosts First “Miss MDC Homestead” Pageant and Toy Drive Dec. 9

Miami, Nov. 18, 2021 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Homestead Campus kicks off the holidays with its first ever Miss MDC Homestead Pageant and Toy Drive on Thursday, Dec. 9, from 5 – 6:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public. Must bring a toy donation.

Toys collected will be distributed to PATCHES PPEC, a medical daycare facility located in Florida City where children with sub-acute and chronic conditions are cared for.

During the pageant, six Homestead Campus students – Shamori Fancher, Jimena Pena, Jazmin Laughlin, Brianna Bogues, Daniella Noel and Anna Johnson – will compete in three main categories: Shark Pride, Evening Wear and On-Stage Question. All six contestants have demonstrated success though leadership, integrity, character, and confidence. They are involved in clubs and organizations, and maintain above average grade point averages.

The contest will be judged by Homestead Campus faculty and administrators Jasmine Johnson, Grant Director of Upward Bound; Dr. Randall Kaufman, Chair of English and Communications; Dr. Simeon Richardson, Senior Associate Professor of English and Developmental Reading and Dr. Nicole Bryant, Director of the first Honors College at the Homestead Campus. This activity is sponsored by Student Life at MDC Homestead.
