Lights, Camera, Action! MDC North Campus Offers New Production Assistant Bootcamp for Filmmakers

Miami, Oct. 1, 2019 — Miami Dade College’s (MDC) acclaimed School of Entertainment and Design Technology (SEDT) in collaboration with the School of Continuing Education (CE) will offer a Production Assistant (PA) Bootcamp, a new workshop for anyone interested in jump starting a career in film and television. The two-day course will be held Saturday, Oct. 5 and Sunday, Oct. 6, starting at 9 a.m.

During the intensive training created by SEDT film professor Josh Ellis participants will learn the ins and outs of film, television, commercials, music videos, corporate video, still photography, and documentaries, offering a hands-on, rigorous industry training to prepare students for entry-level positions. Upon completion of the course, participants will earn an official certificate of completion recognized by bootcamp sponsor, Miami-Dade County Office of Film & Entertainment.

“North Campus is proud to continue to bring industry professional training to its students and the community,” said Dr. Malou C. Harrison, President of North and Padrón campuses. This wonderful PA program will give those students who dream to join the film industry a head start into their future careers.”

“We are so excited that Miami Dade College has brought forth the PA Bootcamp,” added Sandy Lighterman, Miami-Dade County Film Commissioner. “It’s essential for those entering the business as a Production Assistant to understand the on-set protocol and procedures before they arrive to their first working experience. Not only will it be beneficial to the students who attend, but it will also be valuable for production companies to hire PAs with the knowledge of what the job entails before they come on set.”
