Jazz at Wolfson Presents Saxophonist Mark Colby Oct. 11

Miami, Sept. 25, 2017 – Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Arts and Philosophy Department continues its successful jazz series, Jazz at Wolfson Presents, with saxophonist Mark Colby, at noon, Wednesday, Oct. 11, at MDC’s Wolfson Campus. All Jazz at Wolfson Presents concerts are free and open to the public.

Colby’s dedication to pursuing a life in music was cemented at a young age.  He became immersed in the sounds of the big bands due to his father being a professional drummer who played with Benny Goodman in the 1940s.

Throughout his career, Colby has played in recording sessions and toured with Maynard Ferguson, Bob James, Frank Sinatra, and Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, among others. He has also played for Joe Williams, Clark Terry, Kurt Elling, Sarah Vaughn, Jaco Pastorious and Tony Bennett.

In 1999, Hallway Records released Colby’s Reunion (with pianist Vince Maggio) followed by Tenor Reference in 2002, to glowing reviews and appreciative audiences. Colby’s latest recording, All or Nothing at All, was released on his own label in 2016.
