Immigrants Can Become Empowered with Tools to Succeed at FLYiFEST at Miami Dade College

Miami, Feb. 12, 2018 – Miami Dade College (MDC) will host a new edition of FLYiFEST, sponsored by the Florida League of Young Immigrants, at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 3, with the goal to ease the transition of new immigrants into the community and forge a foundation for success.

Inspired by the Aspen Ideas Festival, FLYiFEST will be an outdoors fair where local organizations of aid will provide information and guidance to newly-arrived immigrants as they transition into their new home.  There will also be forums and workshops where select speakers will give testimonies with the purpose of inspiring and building the community. Participants can enjoy musical performances and snacks.  School supply kits will also be distributed.

With the support of MDC, Bezos Scholars Foundation and the MDC’s School for Advanced Studies (SAS), FLYiFEST will serve as the link among youth, their families and the avenues to success.
