Honors College Induction Ceremony Rescheduled to Oct. 26

Miami, Oct. 10, 2016 – Due to Hurricane Matthew, this year’s renowned Honors College at Miami Dade College (MDC) Induction Ceremony, has been rescheduled to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26, at the historic Olympia Theater at the Gusman Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Miami.

Through testimonials from current students and alumni, first-year students and parents will learn about the endless opportunities including research with faculty, domestic and international study-abroad seminars, professional development experiences, civic engagement opportunities, and student life organizations that will enhance their academic careers. The new inductees will also meet MDC’s Honors College faculty, administrators and staff.

The incoming freshmen will receive lapel pins to commemorate their initiation and launching their journey together as the Class of 2018. Honors College faculty, administrators and staff will also be present to show support and celebrate the occasion.

Since its inception in 2002, the Honors College at MDC combines a rigorous academic program with global perspective, leadership experiences, and enrichment opportunities that prepare well-rounded individuals who make an impact in the world.

The Honors College at MDC has set the bar and blazed the trail as “An Ivy stepladder,” as described in a major article in TIME magazine a few years ago. Its graduates have gone on to study at major colleges and universities across the country, and its newest students are poised to continue that esteemed tradition.
